Una de las cosas que extraño de Montevideo (Uruguay), donde vivimos los dos últimos años, es la posibilidad de disfrutar de actividades al aire libre. Recuerdo su Jardín Botánico, donde era difícil avanzar porque Ian solía detenerse para observar las hojas, ramitas, flores, piedras que encontraba en su camino. Cómo disfrutaba! Estas son fotos de nuestro archivo.
Here, the only experiences that we have outdoors are in the back yard or in the garden at the entrance of our house; so today we took advantage of these areas for our activities.
Aquí, las únicas experiencias que tenemos al aire libre son en el patio trasero o en el jardincito de la entrada de casa; así que hoy decidi aprovechar esas áreas para nuestras actividades.
First, we had a short walk with an old magnifying glass that I found at home. Although the yard area is big, I prefer not to walk everywhere because it is possible to find dangerous animals, like spiders or snakes. I wanted to show Ian how the flowers looked under his magnifying glass but he just wanted to use it as a lens to view the landscape. However, I think a better magnifying glass has great potential for our future exploration, especially when we finally have the garden of my dreams, or something close to it at least.
Primero, dimos un pequeño paseo con una vieja lupa que encontré en casa. Aunque el área del patio es más o menos grande, prefiero no recorrerla completamente porque es muy posible encontrar animales peligrosos, me refiero a arañas y serpientes. Quise mostrarle a Ian como se ven las flores bajo su lupa pero el simplemente quiso usarla como un lente para ver el paisaje. Sin embargo, creo que una mejor lupa tiene gran potencial para nuestras exploraciones futuras, sobre todo cuando por fin tenga el jardín de mis sueños, o algo parecido al menos.
While Ian enjoyed his magnifying glass, I collected some wild, tiny flowers. I remembered that Ian likes inserting a toothpick in the pepper shaker so I thought that he would like to put the flowers in one of them. He was entertained for a while until he figured out that it had water and there was an additional glass, so he preferred to pour water between glasses until the water ran out.
Mientras Ian disfrutaba su lupa, yo recogí algunas florecillas silvestres. Recordé que ha Ian le gusta meter los palitos de dientes en los condimenteros así que pensé que le gustaría arreglar las flores en uno de ellos. Se entretuvo un rato hasta que descubrió que tenia agua y un vaso adicional y prefirió verter el agua entre los vasos hasta que se quedo sin agua.
Then we tried painting on bubble wrap using finger paints. Ian enjoyed more pushing the bubble wrap with his finger and squeezing the bottles of paint rather than painting. When the bubble wrap is covered with colors, he pressed a number of sheets of paper onto it to make a multicolored print, very nice.
Luego hicimos pintura sobre envoltorio plástico de burbujas usando pintura de dedos. Ian disfruto más reventando las burbujas y exprimiendo los pomos de pintura que pintando. Cuando el envoltorio de burbujas esta cubierto con colores, se presiona una hoja de papel y al despegarlo se obtiene una impresión multicolor muy linda.
After several attempts, Ian has finally learned to use the spray bottle and he was spraying water all around, including my face and his face.
Después de varios intentos Ian por fin aprendió a usar la botella con espray y estuvo disparando agua por todos lados, mi cara y su cara inclusive.
In the afternoon, after his nap, we returned to the yard for another artistic activity with finger paints. Ian made some hand impressions but quickly he felt uncomfortable with paint on his hands and he found no better place to clean them but on his own clothes, and mine as well (yes, we need to use aprons!!). With his hands clean and without the discomfort of his clothes soaked in paint, he continued painting first with a painbrush and then with a sponge. Lately, he is interested in different shapes (circles, squares, triangles, stars, hearts) so I gave him a star sponge. I was surprised how long that this activity capture his attention.
Por la tarde, después de su siesta, volvimos al patio para otra actividad artística con pintura de dedos. Ian hizo algunas impresiones con sus manitos pero rápidamente se sintió incomodo con la pintura sobre sus manos y no encontró mejor lugar para limpiarse que su propia ropa, y la mía también (si, necesitamos usar mandil). Con sus manitos limpias y sin la molestia de su ropa empapada de pintura, continuó pintando, primero con una brochita y luego con una esponja. Últimamente, está interesado en las figuras (círculos, cuadrados, triángulos, estrellas, corazones) así que le traje una en forma de estrella. Estoy sorprendida del tiempo que esta actividad capto su atención.
